As is tradition, Roberto Angelini, Chairman of Empresas Copec, and Juan Enrique Guarachi, executive director of Belén Educa, headed the ceremony in which eight leavers of the Foundation’s schools were awarded the Anacleto Angelini Fabbri Scholarship for Academic Excellence for technical-professional careers.
The youngsters, who have had outstanding academic performance and commitment to the educational values of Belén Educa, are studying engineering at the top rated technical institutes of Duoc UC and the National Training Institute (INACAP). They are majoring in electricity and industrial automation, information technology, connectivity and networks, marketing; along with human resources management, programmer analyst and design, and graphical production.
In prior years, the scholarship financed the total tuition fees of the entire course, but this year seven of the eight beneficiaries gained free education. “In this new scenario the scholarship should be refocused: the site tutoring program and maintenance scholarship have thereby arisen”, Roberto Angelini explained.
EThe scholarship will continue to finance the tuition fees of students who cannot gain free education and will provide support with professional tutoring and a monthly allowance for all scholarship holders. This modification aims to encourage the permanence and completion of studies of our students, thereby preventing desertion of the higher education system. “In this way, we adapt to the institutional changes,” added the Chairman of Empresas Copec. This restructuring “will give youngsters a much sounder and more secure position, which we know will be decisive so they can successfully address the challenges of completing a career”, he said.
In the eleven years this scholarship has been awarded, 81 youngsters have received it, of whom 26 have already graduated and six are in the process thereof.
