ARAUCO deepens its forestry sustainability roadmap

With 1.8 million hectares of forest holdings and as the world’s first company in the sector certified carbon neutral, the company seeks to deepen its contribution to addressing climate change and the responsible management of natural resources.

Accordingly, the subsidiary strengthened its sustainability strategy through the ABC+ Plan, which comprises four pillars: Water, Biodiversity, Circularity and Carbon.

“29% of our holdings are native forest and protected areas. As we operate in areas of high biodiversity, we safeguard their conservation and restoration. In addition, we protect 1,335 threatened species and promote the shared management and stewardship of our forests’ conservation by opening them to the community,” said Charles Kimber, Corporate Chief of People and Sustainability at ARAUCO.

Likewise, the company is driving R&D (Research and Development) initiatives in biomaterials to replace fossil-based or more emission-intensive products, while advancing its commitment to reduce emissions by 2030.
