The subsidiary unveiled its “Comprehensive Fire Prevention and Firefighting Strategy 2024 – 2025,” whose main focus is to protect rural communities and urban areas in municipalities that have been historically affected by forest fires.
The investment associated with this initiative seeks to intensify the work related to social prevention, management of flammable materials, fire detection and firefighting for the 2024-2025 season, with an innovative project to manage coordination between critical sectors.
In terms of resources, 37 aircraft will be deployed, including two heavy-lift Aircrane helicopters, with a discharge capacity of 10,000 liters and a maximum speed of 205 km/h; 3 aircrafts for on-site coordination from the air; a Super Puma medium-weight helicopter with a capacity of 4,000 liters; 16 light helicopters; and 14 aircrafts with a discharge capacity of up to 3,000 liters.
“We are facing a very complex season, with high temperatures, potential heat waves and extreme weather conditions similar to the previous season. For this reason, we are committed to working day by day, quickly and in coordination with the communities,” said Juan Anzieta, ARAUCO’s Heritage and Sustainability Manager.
