ARAUCO’s new mill in Mexico is set to start operations in 2026
The Viking 2.0 Project, located in the city of Zitácuaro, Michoacán State, involves an investment of US$290 million and represents a significant technological development for the industry. The initiative will enable the production of 300,000 m³ of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and 150,000 m³ of melamine, also incorporating paper impregnation in the same complex.
The project also includes new melamine and paper impregnation lines, which will expand the offering of value-added products for the Mexican market. In this way, ARAUCO is strengthening its presence in North America, integrating processes into a closed-loop, effluent-free, and sustainable system, consolidating its position as a key player in forestry innovation in the region.
