Copec supports the creation of the first Wildlife Rescue Center in Huilo Huilo

The initiative, developed by the Huilo Huilo Foundation with the support of the Empresas Copec subsidiary as part of its 90th anniversary, seeks to strengthen the rehabilitation and reintroduction of native fauna in the Biological Reserve located in the Los Ríos Region.

The facility will have specialized veterinary infrastructure for the treatment of species such as pumas, birds, foxes, and huemules, reducing the transfers and risks these animals face when requiring medical attention. In addition, it will be a key support for the huemul conservation program, allowing for more timely care with advanced technology.

Juan Pablo Doñas, chief of Corporate Affairs at Copec, emphasized that the project “will care for and restore life to wild animals in the south of the country,” adding that the initiative represents a tangible contribution to science, environmental education, and resilience in the face of climate change.

The center is part of a network of 16 conservation projects that Copec is promoting in every region of the country as part of its Nature Strategy, which aims to generate a net positive impact on ecosystems and communities.
