Almost five months after starting the bioremediation process to recover the 16-hectare site located on the Viña del Mar coastline, the Company announced a capital increase of US$ 85 million for the Las Salinas project. The investment will allow progress in environmental remediation and long-term urban planning, with the aim of integrating this space into the city’s growth.
The initiative proposes sustainable development, allocating 43% of the area to green spaces and the remaining 57% to mixed uses, such as housing, retail, hotels, and a conference center.
The remediation process in the southern section is underway and is expected to be completed in 2027. At the same time, in 2025, the processing of urban planning permits will begin, which will define aspects such as public spaces, buildings and the project’s road connection.
“This capital increase is a new demonstration of the commitment of Empresas Copec to Viña del Mar. We confirm our decision to continue contributing to its future, which is why, in addition to the decontamination work, we will add an innovative urban project that will revitalize the entire Las Salinas sector,” said Ricardo Labarca, general manager of Las Salinas.
