Empresas Copec subsidiaries make progress in recycling initiatives


Committed to waste reduction, Copec, Golden Omega and Orizon announced different actions of environmental responsibility. This, as part of the World Recycling Day.

Copec, committed to being a Zero Waste company by 2029 in its plant operations, service stations and convenience stores, maintains waste management sites in 92 Pronto, having recycled more than 800 tons of material to date.

Likewise, in alliance with Food For Future (F4F), 292 tons of organic waste have been transformed into animal feed and, together with Rendering, frying oil is reused as an input for the production of biodiesel. In addition, as of 2023, 100% of the packaging is recyclable and/or compostable.

Last year, Golden Omega, with the support of Reciclos, became the first company in Arica to carry out composting, recovering 2,528 kilos of organic material from the employees’ casinos, which was used to generate fertilizer for agricultural work, green areas and soil improvement, thus boosting the region’s circular economy.

Orizon Seafood, meanwhile, is carrying out the Zero Garbage to Landfill project, which focuses on the identification, segregation and proper disposal of waste to reduce its impact and increase its recovery. In addition, 32.1 tons of fishing nets have been recovered from the vessels to be transformed into raw material for the production of new products.
