Empresas Copec subsidiaries participate in Biodiversity Action Plan
Copec, Arauco and Orizon will be members of the strategic committee in charge of designing the Business Action Plan on Biodiversity, promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Acción Empresas. The aim of the public-private initiative is to involve the private sector in environmental conservation, seeking to integrate companies in the protection and regeneration of ecosystems, aligning them with global and local goals.
The plan, which will make Chile the fourth country in the world to implement a program of this nature, after Malaysia, Colombia and South Africa, will involve different participation mechanisms, including a working group and macro-zonal workshops, and will be financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Copec, in line with its commitment to strengthen and promote sustainable practices that contribute to the protection and regeneration of the ecosystems near its operations, is the only fuel company that is part of this Strategic Committee.
The results of the multi-sector working group will be presented at the next COP16 on Biodiversity, to be held in October this year in Colombia.
