In response to the forest fire emergency that has affected the south-central region of the country in recent days, ARAUCO carried out a large-scale operational deployment. Thus, more than 600 ARAUCO employees helped fight the fires, along with 40 aircrafts, including four drones for night operations; 130 brigades, 34 of which are night brigades; 12 mechanized brigades; 40 task force teams; and 40 additional skidders, operated by 170 people. In addition, technological support was provided with 165 proprietary robotic cameras, 24 satellites to complement detection, and a fire simulator that allows real-time visualization of propagation scenarios and a satellite navigator that optimizes access through private roads for CONAF and firefighters.
Additionally, ARAUCO donated three tons of food through a campaign by Red de Alimentos, with distribution in the Port of Lirquén, reaffirming its commitment to the territories in which it operates.
Meanwhile, Nutrisco activated a collaboration network with Fundación Gastronomía Social, Desafío Levantemos Chile, and Universidad San Sebastián, managing to donate more than 5,800 kilos of food to support brigades, firefighters, and affected families.
Abastible, on the other hand, set up a special plan for the communities impacted, replacing damaged gas cylinders free of charge, regardless of the company of origin.
With these actions, Empresas Copec’s subsidiaries demonstrate their commitment to the communities that need it most.
