EU approves sale of Cepsa’s fuel units to Abastible
The European Commission gave its approval for the sale of Compañía Española de Petróleos S.A.’s (Cepsa) liquefied gas business in Spain and Portugal to Empresas Copec’s subsidiary. This, after concluding that the operation will not have a negative impact on the European economic space or a substantial part of it.
Last August, Abastible S.A., through Hualpen Gas S.A., agreed to purchase 100% of this Cepsa business, managed through the companies Gasib España and Gasib Portugal, in a transaction valued at €275 million.
According to the Commission, the transaction does not raise antitrust concerns as the companies are not active in the same markets.
