Orizon opens new premium jack mackerel production plant

This new facility, located in Coronel, Biobío Region, required resources of close to US$8 million and will generate jobs for 60 people in the area, who will be provided with advanced technology and modern workstations for their safety.

This investment will also enable the subsidiary to sixfold its production of premium canned jack mackerel, reaching 200 cans per minute, which will bring it revenues up to US$21 million by 2025, as well as the possibility of targeting other markets around the world with greater strength.

“This plant will give us access to Europe and the United States, and in a second stage to Oceania. There is a high demand for this type of product, mainly in Australia,” said Cristián Larraín, general manager of Orizon.

The subsidiary also has other projects under construction, such as Ártico, an initiative that will modernize the infrastructure of its industrial fishing complex. With an investment of US$38 million, it will double the current 60,000 tons capacity by 2025.
