With a ceremony attended by Aisén Etcheverry, Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation; Juan Carlos Muñoz, Minister of Transportation; José Miguel Benavente, Executive Vice-President of Corfo; Roberto Angelini, Chairman of Empresas Copec; and Ignacio Sánchez, Rector of Universidad Católica, the Innovation Center commemorated its first decade of existence. During this period, it has positioned itself as one of the bodies with the greatest impact on the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in Chile.
In his speech at the event, Empresas Copec’s chairman, Roberto Angelini, said: “Innovation requires a long-term vision. In that sense, the Innovation Center is not a space for those who seek quick results, instant gratification and immediate reward. But it is for those who want to contribute to shape the world for future generations, our purpose as Empresas Copec.”
Minister Etcheverry, for her part, commented: “I remember the inauguration of this Center, and above all the idea that it was a high-risk project and many questioned why, and whether we really needed something like this. What has been done here is to demonstrate that when we incorporate science, technology and knowledge in our work, what we achieve is to move towards development.”
