Building the country’s first water park and implementing a climate change laboratory in the high mountains during the 2024 winter season, is part of the project developed by the Chilean startup Nilus and supported by Copec.
The initiative involves freezing 100 million liters of water during the winter -through a technology created by the startup- which would be gradually returned to the same system during the summer season. This way, it seeks to restore mountain ecosystems, protecting places to favor biodiversity in the area, thus facing climate change.
The project intends to build a large database, study its impact and evaluate the scalability of these systems in other regions in Chile and the world.
