ARAUCO joins Constitución waste management plan

The southern city took a decisive step towards a more sustainable management of its waste with the launch of the Classified Waste Management Plan, a municipal initiative in which ARAUCO actively participates, reinforcing its commitment to the environment and the well-being of the communities where it operates.

The proposal includes campaigns for the removal of bulky and electronic waste, as well as the installation of green spaces in strategic areas. These actions seek to encourage sorting at source and reduce pollution focuses.

Javiera Martínez, head of Public Affairs at ARAUCO, emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in these matters, valuing the joint work with the municipality. “As a company, we believe that sustainability is not an option, but a moral obligation to future generations. These campaigns help reduce the micro-landfills that so greatly affect the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and they also promote a profound cultural change: leaving behind the habit of thoughtless disposal and beginning to understand that every piece of waste has a proper place. The environment is everyone’s responsibility, and if we work together, the community, the municipality, and the private sector, we can build a greener and more conscious city,” she said.

The plan was launched on August 28 and will run until September 13, with a strong educational component.
