The exhibition that represents Chile at Expo Osaka 2025, titled Makün: The Mantle of Chile, is supported on a wooden structure manufactured by the subsidiary. The 240 m² work integrates a textile created by 200 Mapuche weavers.
The structure was built with cross-laminated timber from ARAUCO’s Hilam plant in the Ñuble region, from certified forests whose trees were planted, cared for during 24 years and replanted after harvest. This approach reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation with local identity.
ARAUCO highlighted the collaborative work with the project’s designers and the opportunity to showcase Chile’s forestry potential in a country with a millennia-old timber tradition like Japan.
“We are deeply honored and happy to represent Chile at a global event like Expo Osaka. This is a unique opportunity to show the world the potential of our country, its cultural richness and the commitment of companies like ARAUCO to sustainability, innovation and development with local identity,” said Charles Kimber, ARAUCO’s Corporate Manager of People and Sustainability.
