Blue Express promotes smart lockers to transform last-mile delivery in Chile

The Copec’s subsidiary is driving a transformation in the sector through new technological solutions, including the rollout of smart lockers for package pickup. The company has already installed nearly 500 lockers nationwide and plans to reach 1,000 by mid-year, as part of a Ch$100 million investment plan aimed at reinventing the logistics experience and facilitating the growth of e-commerce.

“We believe that this concept of picking up items outside the home is a global trend. It’s happening in Europe, it’s happening in China, and it’s happening in the United States,” said Olivier Paccot, CEO of Blue Express.

The locker network allows packages to be picked up without interaction with intermediaries and has already been used by more than 173,000 people, with rapid growth in recent months. The company estimates that in the coming years, up to 40% of e-commerce could concentrate in this type of solution.

The rollout has been strengthened through partnerships with companies such as SMU, Metro, and Mallplaza. Currently, seven locations are already operational in cities such as Los Andes, Quilpué, Chillán, Molina, San Carlos, Bulnes, and Talca, with the goal of reaching 100 by year end. This expansion adds to the locations available at Copec stations, consolidating a network that already exceeds 3,200 Blue Express points nationwide.
