The subsidiary took a new step in its commitment to a more efficient and sustainable food industry by signing Chile’s first Clean Production Agreement (APL, for its acronym in Spanish). This initiative will be implemented at the Romeral plant, under its Agrifood business, is part of the National Strategy to Prevent and Reduce Food Loss and Waste by 2040, and contributes to comply with United Nations SDG 12.3, which seeks to cut per capita waste in half by 2030.
In Chile, around 1.6 million tons of food are lost or wasted each year, equivalent to approximately 20% of available food. This scenario challenges the productive sector to act with greater focus, collaboration, and innovation, a purpose that underpins this APL promoted by Alimentos y Bebidas de Chile A.G. and CORFO’s Agency for Sustainability and Climate Change.
Nutrisco emphasized that “this agreement reinforces our purpose of building a more efficient, responsible industry that is aligned with the challenges of the future, promoting better nutrition so that people can enjoy their lives, today and tomorrow.”
