Nutrisco participates in public-private partnership to promote food sustainability in Chile
The subsidiary is part of the research project “Upcycling for a sustainable future,” led by Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD), which seeks to implement this practice as a sustainable solution to reduce food waste and promote circular economy in the country.
The initiative, which brings together more than 30 companies and organizations from the public and private sectors, academia, civil society, and international entities, aims to transform industry losses and by-products into new products with greater value and better quality, thus making the most of available raw materials.
In addition, there are plans to create an “Upcycling Seal” to standardize good production practices and promote innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability in the national agri-food sector.
During the launch, held at the FAO headquarters in Santiago, representatives from Nutrisco signed a symbolic commitment alongside other participating institutions to support the development of the project in the country.
