The fisheries subsidiary, which belongs to Nutrisco, together with CeTA, the Technological Center for Food Innovation, opened a new facility in the Biobío region, with the aim of improving the development of products based on local raw materials and boosting the local economy in the surrounding communities.
The CeTA Sur Innovation Center, located inside the Orizon plant in Coronel, has 235m2 equipped with cutting edge machinery, laboratories, product development areas and production lines. It will allow startups, SMEs and large companies from Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos to develop food piloting and prototyping projects.
Rigoberto Rojo, general manager of Nutrisco, said: “We are proud to lead sustainable nutrition from the sea. This center represents a relevant milestone, as it offers the most advanced technology for the food innovation ecosystem of the Biobío region to develop without limits.”
The initiative joins the CeTA North Zone Innovation Center in Coquimbo, which was also developed thanks to the collaboration between the two entities in 2020.
