UC study highlights Las Salinas project’s contribution to Viña del Mar

A study by Universidad Católica’s Observatory of Cities estimated that the Las Salinas project could generate $38.994 billion in contributions for the Municipality of Viña del Mar during its first 13 years of development.

The analysis, completed in May, takes into account revenue from building permits, business licenses and property taxes, in addition to the creation of 11,733 jobs per year during the construction phase.

The report notes that the economic impact would extend beyond the initial construction works. The gradual operation of housing, offices, retail spaces, services and hotel projects planned between 2028 and 2041 would generate new economic flows for the municipality, helping boost local activity and support the city’s urban recovery process.

These results reinforce Las Salinas’ potential as an urban regeneration initiative aimed at restoring a historically industrial site for new urban uses, integrating economic development, sustainability and quality of life for Viña del Mar and its residents.
