Arauco participates in COP 28

For the fourth consecutive time, the forestry subsidiary participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference in the United Arab Emirates, which was attended by delegations from 198 countries.

In this latest edition, Arauco’s focus was on three key and complementary actions. These are mitigating the effects of climate change by reducing emissions by 2030, through the Science Based Targets initiative; reversing the loss of biodiversity, preserving nearly 500,000 hectares of native forest and protected areas in Latin America; and reducing pollution, in line with its commitment to zero waste by 2030, by developing biodegradable and recyclable products to replace plastic.

“The triple climate crisis imposes unavoidable challenges for the business world. Those of us who work with nature and renewables have the opportunity and the duty to deepen our contribution to a more sustainable world,” said Charles Kimber, Arauco’s People and Sustainability Manager.
