The subsidiary was part of the international event Challenge The Fabric, held in Milan, Italy, where it stood out with an innovative collection of scarves made from dissolving pulp, a sustainable material that it has produced since 2020. The event brought together leading players from the textile and fashion world, such as Balenciaga, Adidas and Ikea, with the aim of rethinking the future of materials based on more sustainable solutions.
On behalf of the company, Nicolás Jobet, ARAUCO’s Communications and People Manager, unveiled the collection developed in partnership with 1KO and illustrated by Ignacia Jullian, Sago Estudio and Bad Sisters. “The scarf collection seeks to connect fashion and conservation,” said the executive.
ARAUCO produces 480,000 tons of this pulp per year, which is distinctive for its natural origin, recyclability and biodegradability. Its use significantly reduces water and energy consumption compared to traditional materials, and it is an increasingly valued alternative for manufacturers in India and China, who transform it into fabrics for the world’s leading fashion houses.
