Copec and MIM introduce the largest immersive space in South America

As part of the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Copec subsidiary and the 25th anniversary of Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM), both institutions unveiled the design of the future largest immersive space in South America, which will open its doors in 2026 as a pioneering experience in scientific, educational, and cultural outreach.

With more than 400 m² of floor space and a 360° projection dome, this innovative venue will offer simulations and virtual tours covering astronomy, energy, sustainability, biology, and technology, aimed at both children and the general public.

“This space, which will bring together science, art, and technology to inspire and educate new generations, reflects the commitment we have had for nine decades to the development of people and the country,” said Copec’s CEO, Arturo Natho.

Its development was awarded to Patagonstar, representative in Chile of Evans Sutherland, a global leader in visualization technologies for planetariums and science centers.

As part of the process, a national contest will be held for the public to choose the official name of the space, which aims to become a regional museum benchmark.
