Copec awarded contract to build six new bus electroterminals for public transportation in the Metropolitan Region

The latest tender issued by the Metropolitan Public Transportation Board (DTPM for its Spanish acronym) will allow Copec to increase its share of the RED system to 2,856 electric buses, equivalent to 63% of the Metropolitan Region’s electric fleet, powered with 100% renewable energy.

Specifically, the new charging stations will power approximately 559 electric buses in the Greater Santiago area, through coordinated efforts between its subsidiaries Copec EMOAC and Copec Voltex.

“With this contract, we continue to expand our participation in the country’s electric public transportation system, providing robust infrastructure and comprehensive solutions that enable the operation of increasingly larger fleets with 100% renewable energy. Our focus is on ensuring operational continuity with world-class standards, supporting the energy transition of public transportation,” said Francisco Larrondo, CEO of Copec Voltex.

The initiative includes long-term electricity supply contracts, designed to provide cost stability and ensure operational continuity. The committed energy is estimated to reach approximately 44 GWh. Operations are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with a phased rollout as new fleets are added.
