Environmental regeneration moves forward in Las Salinas with 20% of the area restored

The Las Salinas project reached a new milestone in its environmental remediation process with the harvest of the first biopile of decontaminated soil. This technique—implemented in a controlled and highly demanding environment—made it possible to clean up a significant amount of land in just 12 weeks, complying with the standards set by the authorities and validated by an accredited laboratory.

This progress comes on top of the remediation of two hectares at the South Section, totaling more than 20% of the restored area. The process is being carried out with active citizen involvement through the Participatory Monitoring Plan, which guarantees access to transparent information and community presence throughout the project’s development.

“We are very pleased to have completed the harvest of the first biopile. This is a significant milestone, as it demonstrates the effectiveness of the bioremediation technique chosen to complete the decontamination of the Las Salinas site,” said Daniel Pérez, Chief of Engineering and Construction at Las Salinas.

The treated soil, now suitable for future urban use, represents a significant step towards harmonious development with the environment and the community of Viña del Mar.
