Orizon Seafood generates 100% of its power supply with renewable energies

The subsidiary announced that all the energy that supplies its plants in Coronel and Coquimbo uses solar energy and, to a lesser extent, wind energy, as part of the company’s sustainability strategy.

“Our purpose is to lead sustainable nutrition from the sea, and from there comes the motivation to implement a supply that generates cleaner energy sources,” said Juan Pablo Chávez, Orizon Seafood’s People, Sustainability and OHS Manager.

Orizon, the world’s leading jack mackerel producer, is developing a series of initiatives to mitigate the environmental impact and CO2 emissions in its operations. Thus, it expects to reduce electricity consumption by 10%, lower the consumption of LPG in boilers by 18% and decrease the use of diesel fleet by 15% by 2026.
