With the purpose of bringing reading closer to rural areas of the Biobío Region, the ARAUCO subsidiary, through its educational foundation, renewed the fleet of vehicles operating under the Bibliomóviles program in the municipalities of Cañete, Lebu and Los Álamos. The mobile libraries provide a book-lending service to schools and communities located in rural areas where there are no public libraries.
In addition, 900 additional books were delivered and, after more than 14 years of operation of the initiative, Fundación Educacional Arauco renewed a collaboration agreement with the municipality of Cañete, committing itself to continue promoting reading.
“Today we are seeing what happens when public-private alliances are long-term, where the parties carry out quality, serious and responsible work (…) For example, the Lebu mobile library reaches Isla Mocha which makes us proud and makes us commit to continue moving forward with this work,” said Isidora Recart, executive director at the foundation.
