Golden Omega develops Omega-3 concentrate based on jack mackerel

Through this innovation, the subsidiary is today the only company in the world that offers this “superfood” alternative from jack mackerel oil. This oil stands out for its high content of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), two types of fatty acids beneficial to human health.

This breakthrough came at a time of shortage of anchovy, the main source of Omega-3 oil in the world, as a result of the intense effects caused by the El Niño weather phenomenon. This prompted the company to seek alternatives backed by its solid relationship with Orizon Seafood, also a subsidiary of Empresas Copec, which supplies premium jack mackerel oil.

“In a world of constant change, we are aware of the importance of rapidly adapting and proposing new alternatives to the market. Implementing technologies and innovations is fundamental to developing solutions and facing the challenges of the future,” said Jorge Brahm, general manager at Golden Omega.
